If you have a wind energy project proposed close to where you live it can sometimes be difficult to establish what the potential implications for you personally might be. There is no substitute for doing your own research and the best way to do this is to go and see a wind farm and if possible talk to the neighbours.
This video talks about the role of renewable energy and specifically wind energy in New York. It features first-hand accounts from people living near wind farms and also experts in the energy and the environment fields. For further questions and answers on wind energy visit the wind energy questions category. The video was produced by Chris McClure.

One problem is that turbines are sometimes installed closer to homes than recommendations specify in manuals produced by the manufacturers. In some small villages in Denmark for example, there are large turbines located significantly less than 1500m from houses, and I can vouch that the noise is a nuisance at times.
A friend works for the RSPB who have actively endorsed wind farm projects in teh UK, their objections don’t often related to bird strikes, but construction in migratory areas.
Responsible planning is therefore essential in order to maintain industry growth and sustain/increase levels of public support.

Nice post. Looks like wind power is really starting to get some serious consideration in Australia now.

Interesting video. I just called 411 to talk with all 4 of these folks and none of them are registered in this area or anywhere around this area. Are they paid actors and actresses? They never said how far away they are from a turbine. I know they make noise. 50-70 decibles of noise. our setbacks are only 1000 feet from a home, not a property line, but a home. nuisance level noise starts at 55 db according to hearing research. Where’s the truth? How big are their turbines…ours are suppose to be 500 feet with 100 yard blades….will this post be edited…..

i really liked the video because i live on a farm but i dont have wind mills because i live in the valley where there is not a lot of wind. This video helped me with my project on wind energy
