The BBC reported today that a contractor has died at a wind farm at the north eastern tip of Scotland.
The incident happened whilst the contractor was carrying out routine maintenance work at Causeymire Wind Farm near Thurso. Emergency services rushed to the wind farm site just off the A9 at approximately 9am this morning
The Northern Constabulary identified the man as Colin Sinclair, 27, from Calder Drive in Thurso. Further details are not yet known but inquiries are ongoing. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has apparently been notified of the incident and will be talking with wind farm owner and operator RWE npower.
The Northern Constabulary said that the cause of the incident is currently being investigated and they will be fully co-operating with the Health and Safety Executive.
It is understood that there are no lifts inside the Siemens wind turbines at Causeymire and it is a possibility that the accident involved a fall within the wind turbine tower. The wind farm started generating green electricity in 2004.
