The BWEA have known of the bat problem for years and it is shameful that they have only just got around to recognising the problem having always played down the issue previously. Let us hope the steering group do at least consult with Bat protection groups and give full and proper guidelines for the future, including how to check for bat use at the critical turbine blade height, allowing for wake effects/downdraught/pressure and keep the turbines at least 200metres away from wooded areas and take account of all the EUROBATS guidelines that the UK Government has already signed up to and so far taken litle heed of.
